Album

The Dave Clark Five is a US-only compilation double-album by The Dave Clark Five. The double-LP was released in 1971 three years after the group's last US studio album entitled Everybody Knows. It features 20 studio tracks in true stereo. As all but the group's last three commercial US albums were issued in re-channeled stereo, fifteen tracks make their U. true stereo debut in this two-disc package, the exceptions being Good Love Is Hard To Find, Sitting Here Baby, Inside and Out. In January 1964 they had their first UK top ten single, Glad All Over, which knocked the Beatles' I Want to Hold Your Hand off the top of the UK Singles Chart. It peaked at No. 6 in the United States in April 1964. Although this was their only UK No. 1, they topped the US chart in December 1965, with their cover of Bobby Day's Over And Over. By this point in the Dave Clark Five's career, it seems they have matured as a group. They've added fuzz guitar to the rockers on the A-side while they've added lush, orchestral arrangements to the ballads on the flip side. Yes, the album title was used for the US release 5 by 5. but again, there is no overlap in tracks. What's the deal This album is totally worth getting . Frankly speaking, the Dave Clark Five had a lot of good things going for them. First and foremost, they wrote most of their material themselves - not even the Beatles could boast that around 1963 or 1964. Second, Dave Clark, the band's obvious leader and drummer man, in addition to being the band's own manager, produced their albums all by himself again, no mean feat for the early Sixties. Nasty rumours claim, however, that he was barely competent on the drums, and that all the playing on studio recordings was done by session players
