The McCrarys are an American family Gospel and R&B group best known for the songs You featuring Stevie Wonder on harmonica, Lost in Loving You, Love on a Summer Night and Any Ol' Sunday later covered by Chaka Khan. In 2014, they founded The McCrary Foundation, a nonprofit to help those in need through the healing powers of music. Howard McCrary, the song-writer, was joined by two sisters Linda and Charity and two brothers Sam and Alfred in the group. They started off as a gospel outfit, with the album Sunshine Day and then moving away from Gospel recorded the Emerge album. Howard took a break from the band to pursue solo goals, only to return later on the music scene in 1978. Later releases as The McCrarys included the Loving is Living album which featured liner notes by Stevie Wonder, and appearances from David. An unsung family group from Los Angeles, the McCrarys sang gospel prior to signing with Portrait Records in 1978 for four singles and two albums. Linda, Alfred, Sam, and Charity McCrary sang on the Portrait recordings, while another sibling, Howard, had sung with them on a 1972 gospel release, Sunshine Day. Their most popular singles were Lost in Loving You, Love on a Summer Night, and You the latter with Stevie Wonder on harmonica, while their career highlights include opening for the Jacksons and appearing on Soul Train.
